My name is Ania Halls and I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR Practitioner in York. I offer confidential therapy for adults experiencing depression, trauma and anxiety disorders, based on the latest research in the field.
I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, which means that I am registered with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP). BABCP is the only organisation in Britain which recognises CBT therapists who meet pre-set requirements of training and commit to continuous professional development. Please feel free to check my accreditation status by visiting the BABCP website and clicking on ‘find a CBT Therapist’ link. I am also a fully trained EMDR practitioner, level 3. I am fully insured and have a recent CRB check.
My professional yet comfortable private practice is located in Holgate in York, with parking and easy access by car and public transport. I am located near the ring road which lends itself well to those travelling from other areas of Yorkshire including Leeds, Wetherby, Hull and Selby.

My therapist journey began in 2001 after completing a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Approaches to Health. I then went on to complete my Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy training at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College in London. Whilst working in London I had the privilege of working alongside and being supervised by world renowned psychologists and CBT therapists at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT). After completing my core training I worked for the NHS as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in London and later across Yorkshire.
In my final years at the NHS, I worked as a Clinical Lead / Senior Psychotherapist / Clinical Supervisor for two large NHS psychology services and there I accumulated over 4,000 clinical hours of treatment. I also contributed towards the continuous development of other therapists by teaching and providing clinical supervision to NHS therapists, trainees as well as Clinical Psychologists.
Two years ago I decided to step away from management roles and to concentrate fully on my clinical work through my private practice. I now run a regular clinic in Holgate in York. The majority of my clients self refer for therapy, but I also accept referrals from insurance companies, solicitors and back to work schemes. I provide regular supervision to a number of independent therapists in and around York and to NHS psychology departments across the country.
In my free time I enjoy Pilates, travelling, trying out exotic foods, writing and being in nature.
