My name is Ania Halls and I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist in York. I offer confidential therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress and trauma, based on the latest research in the field. My consultation room is based in Holgate in York, with parking and easy access by car and public transport.
I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, which means that I am registered with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP). BABCP is the only organisation in Britain which recognises CBT therapists who meet pre-set requirements of training and commit to continuous professional development. Please feel free to check my accreditation status by visiting the BABCP website and clicking on ‘find a CBT Therapist’ link (Note: only complete the Surname field). I am also a fully trained EMDR practitioner, level 3. I am fully insured and have a recent CRB check.
A BIT MORE ABOUT ME
My therapist journey began in 2001 after completing a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Approaches to Health in Leeds. I then went on to complete my Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy training at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London. Whilst working in London I had the privilege of working alongside, and being supervised by, world renowned psychologists at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT). After completing my core training, I then went on to work in various clinical roles at the NHS - ranging from being a Therapist, a Clinical Supervisor and Service Manager, as well as a Clinical Service Lead, at two large IAPT services in York and in London.
Over the years I have accumulated over 4,000 clinical hours of treatment. I also contributed towards the continuous development of other therapists by teaching and providing clinical supervision to NHS therapists, trainees as well as Clinical Psychologists.
In 20015 I decided to step away from management roles and to concentrate fully on my clinical work through private practice. I also began expanding my training by exploring new promising therapies such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy, EMDR and psycho-somatic therapies. This has allowed me to work more integratvely and has enriched my CBT practice.
I now run a regular clinic in Holgate in York. The majority of my clients self refer for therapy, but I also accept referrals from insurance companies, solicitors and back to work schemes. I provide regular supervision to a number of independent therapists in and around York and to NHS psychology departments across the country.
